Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Government is planning to raise social protection funds by Rp18.6 trillion this year as part of efforts to maintain the people's purchasing power, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati has informed.

The additional social protection funds will be used to provide direct cash assistance to 20.65 million beneficiary recipients (KPM) and working capital to micro businesses (BPUM), the Finance Minister said during a working meeting with the Budget Committee of the House of Representatives (DPR) in Jakarta on Thursday.

"We will incorporate it (into the 2022 state budget). In total, the social protection funds will reach Rp431.5 trillion (this year)," she said.

As much as Rp28.7 trillion of the social protection funds will be used for the family hope program (PKH), Rp45.1 trillion for the basic necessity card program, and Rp11 trillion for the pre-employment card program.

Meanwhile, funds amounting to Rp28.8 trillion will go to provide direct cash assistance (BLT) and Rp46.5 trillion to national health security contribution recipients (PBI JKN).

In addition, the funds will be used for the expansion of public protection for the current year, including pre-employment cards (Rp9 trillion) and educational assistance (Rp9 trillion).

The funds will also include assistance amounting to Rp1.7 trillion for sidewalk traders, food stall owners, and fishermen and direct cash assistance of Rp7.5 trillion for cooking oil procurement.

Indrawati said the allocation of social protection funds constitutes a concrete impact of the realization of the state budget on the public.

"Some of them are in the form of social protection, while others are in the form of fuel oil and electricity subsidies amounting to hundreds of trillions of rupiahs. The public can directly benefit from it," she added.
