Actually, SOEs' recruitment is part of a large strategy. The number of millennial SOEs, who are technology literate, must be pushed to 20 percent
Jakarta (ANTARA) - State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) continue to open up job opportunities for the community, both through recruitment and various SOEs programs, according to SOEs Minister Erick Thohir.

"SOEs continue to create job opportunities, not only through recruitment but also through various programs," the minister stated as quoted from his official Instagram account @erickthohir here on Friday.

Thohir later emphasized the need for business transformation of SOEs to be sustainable, for which SOEs had prepared young leadership since the start.

"Actually, SOEs' recruitment is part of a large strategy. The number of millennial SOEs, who are technology literate, must be pushed to 20 percent," he stressed.

Thohir also noted that SOEs have several programs, with more power to create job opportunities. One of them is a state-run microlending firm, PNM, with its ultra-micro program for housewives in the village.

"During the COVID-19 pandemic, PNM, through the Mekaar program, was able to increase 7.1 million customers. Each of them is successfully employing one person. This means that during the COVID-19 pandemic, they are able to create 7.1 million job opportunities," Thohir remarked.

This achievement demonstrates that the SOEs' program could actually play an important role in creating job opportunities for the wider community, he emphasized.

According to Thohir, when the SOEs Ministry consolidates transformation through the Ultra Micro Holding with state-owned bank BRI, state pawnshop chain Pegadaian, and PNM, the ministry has observed that these programs could encourage massive job creation.

He also reminded that the SOEs program must be close to the community in the context of job creation and young entrepreneurs, such as PNM's Mekaar, Pertashop by state-run oil company Pertamina, and BRILink by BRI.

The consolidation of Ultra Micro Holding has resulted in 12.7 million customers joining the PNM Mekaar, 8.7 million customers joining the Pegadaian Gold Savings Program, and Rp720 trillion disbursed to 31 million customers through the smallholder business credit (KUR) by BRI from 2015 to the second quarter of 2022.
