We will carry out further investigation to find out the source of these materials.Bandung, W Java (ANTARA) - Police are trying to trace the origin of explosives and firearms discovered recently at a house on Asia Afrika Street, Bandung city, West Java.
According to spokesperson for the West Java Police, Senior Commissioner Ibrahim Tompo, the house had been empty since 2001.
"We will carry out further investigation to find out the source of these materials," Tompo said here on Tuesday.
Its owner, identified by his initials as DKH, told police that the house was previously occupied by his relatives.

The explosives and firearms were discovered when DKH was renovating the house. A worker had found suspicious materials lying on a shelf and raised an alert.
The discovery was reported to the police, Tompo added.
Following the report, the police's bomb squad, Gegana, was dispatched to the location. The explosives were then taken to the West Java Police Mobile Brigade Headquarters for deactivation.

The materials discovered at the house included melted explosives, detonators, 7.62 mm long-barreled firearms, and thousands of rounds of live ammunition, Tompo informed.
"We are investigating the case in more detail to find out the source and origin of the material. Until now, there is no connection with terrorist groups," he said.
The police secured the explosives and firearms around 8:30 p.m. on Monday (June 6, 2022) and immediately isolated the building on Asia Afrika Street.
