The Indonesian government is currently drafting regulations regarding the implementation of energy management, especially the government regulations on energy conservation, Tasrif remarked.
Currently, the regulation is still in the stage of harmonization. The rules contained in the regulation will cover energy consumers as well as the transportation and building sectors.
Tasrif addressed that the government is also expanding the Minimum Energy Performance Standard (MEPS) to other equipment, as regulated in Indonesia's National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN), implementing energy-efficient technologies, such as electric vehicles, induction cookers, and others.

In addition, Indonesia is accelerating energy efficiency investments through innovative financing schemes, private involvement, mixed financing for energy efficiency, as well as raising awareness through energy efficiency awards (annual Subroto Awards for energy efficiency), ASEAN energy awards, and innovative campaign on social media.
The minister noted that Indonesia had implemented several energy efficiency programs, including the conversion of diesel to gas generators, rooftop solar power plants, conversion of electric motors, and household gas networks.
In addition, the government plans to implement carbon tax regulations for coal power plants on July 1, 2022, and all industrial sectors in 2025.
