"This meeting was a part of our efforts to accelerate the MoU completion between the Indonesian government and the Saudi Kingdom regarding PMI placement in Saudi Arabia," secretary-general of the Manpower Ministry, Anwar Sanusi, said in a statement received here on Wednesday.
During the meeting in Geneva, Switzerland, on June 14, 2022, officials also signed the minutes of an earlier bilateral meeting between he two countries on the sidelines of the 2nd Employment Working Group (EWG) meeting in Yogyakarta province.
The progress of drafting the MoU between the technical teams of the two countries has been running smoothly and productively and with progress in placement and protection issues for PMI, Sanusi informed.
Several points of discussion on which progress has been made so far include wages, protection, employment relations, PMI rights, and the limits of PMIs’ obligations while working in Saudi Arabia.
"Once again, this is indeed a very progressive step. However, we need to maintain it together. Hopefully, after the MoU is completed, no less than 500 articles are written in the Kabaai will provide a good system for us to place our migrant workers, especially in Saudi Arabia," he said.
Manpower Minister Ida Fauziyah held a virtual bilateral meeting with the Minister of Manpower and Development of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Ahmed Al-Rajhi, on June 3.
During the meeting, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia agreed to accelerate the process of integrating the MUSANED system (Saudi Arabian job market application) and SISNAKER (Indonesian Ministry of Manpower’s job market system) by making amendments to the technical arrangement, which has expired.
The two countries also discussed stopping visa conversion following the implementation of the One Channel Placement System (SPSK).
