According to data received from the task force here on Thursday, the regions that recorded the most cases were Jakarta, with 696 cases, followed by West Java, with 158 cases; Banten, with 145 cases; East Java, with 63 cases; and Bali, with 49 new positive cases.
The number of active cases rose by 661 compared to the previous day to reach 6,668.
Meanwhile, the task force data showed that 509 patients recovered from the virus on Thursday. Thus, the total number of recoveries touched 5,901,083.
The regions that recorded the most recoveries on Thursday were Jakarta (293), West Java (66), East Java (53), Banten (37), and Bali (22).
The country also recorded three new COVID-19 deaths: one in Jakarta, one in West Java, and one in East Java. Thus, the overall death toll reached 156,673.
Meanwhile, 4,054 people were listed in the suspected category as of Thursday, based on tests conducted on 76,459 specimens in laboratories across the country.

The daily specimen positivity rate was recorded at 2.73 percent, while the daily person positivity rate was pegged at 2.13 percent.
Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin, on the sidelines of a state welcoming event for the President of the Federal Republic of Germany at Bogor Palace, West Java, on Thursday, estimated that the number of infections caused by the BA.4 and BA.5 Omicron subvariants could peak to about 25 thousand per day.
His prediction was based on the monitoring of the two subvariants in other countries. "We believe there will be an increase of maybe a maximum of 25 thousand per day," he said.
