We should respect our own faith as well as the beliefs of others, thus we (can) advance together in diversity.Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs, Mahfud MD, has invited all Indonesian people, especially Muslims, to build a nation based on inclusiveness, as applied in the implementation of the Constitution of Medina.
"We should respect our own faith as well as the beliefs of others, thus we (can) advance together in diversity," he said, according to a statement received here on Saturday.
He made the statement at the inauguration of the Provincial Leadership Board (DPW) and Regional Leadership Board (DPD) of Alumni Associations (IKA) of the Indonesian Islamic University (UII), Palembang city, South Sumatra province, on Saturday.
He said he expects all people to understand the spirit of Indonesia well to support its becoming an inclusive country, thus the majority group must not conduct any unjustifiable acts against the minority group.

Furthermore, he also appealed to the event’s participants to help build Indonesia as a country that is ‘rahmatan lil alamin’ or a blessing to the universe.
Thus, Indonesia can become a comfortable place for anyone to live safely and peacefully, he added.
"Muslims (should also) become nationalists (who) love the nation and do not become extremists," Mahfud said.
He also invited UII alumni to live well based on the principles of Islam, Indonesian values, and Indonesia's state ideology, Pancasila.
The event was also attended by Governor of South Sumatra, Herman Deru; chief of the Supreme Court (MA) and general chair of the Central Leadership Board (DPP) of IKA UII, Muhammad Syarifuddin; and head of Ogan Ilir district and chairman of the South Sumatra DPW IKA UII, Panca Wijaya.
