Kuching, Sarawak (ANTARA) - West Kalimantan Province promoted its tourism attractions in a tourism exhibition held in conjunction with the 2022 Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) at Sarawak Cultural Village, Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia, June 17-19.

The province's booth themed "Kapuas Sails" displayed various natural and cultural beauties of West Kalimantan, the coordinator of the tourism promotion, Memedaeng, said here on Sunday.

RWMF is the right event to introduce tourism and cultural arts of West Kalimantan Province to a wider level, according to Memedaeng.

People from various countries came to Serawak for the music festival, she said.

West Kalimantan, which shares border with Malaysia, hopes to attract some of the visitors to proceed their journey to the province from Serawak, she said.

"Being (geographically) close and easy to access, West Kalimantan can become the next place for foreign tourists to visit if they want to continue their vacation after leaving Sarawak," Memedaeng said.

The province's booth in the tourism event displayed various photos and videos showing the beautiful scenery and culture such as the views of Temajok Beach which is located in Sambas District, the western tip of the island of Borneo of Kalimantan, and Bengkayang District which is known as the Land of 1000 cascades.

Sambas' songket traditional woven craft and handicraft of Bengkayang were also displayed.

This year, 60 musicians from 20 countries participated in RWMF, which is one the major music festivals in Malaysia. RWMF celebrated its 25th anniversary by hosting a hybrid event for the first time since the beginning of the music festival in 1998.

The 2022 RWMF was themed “Legendary Rainforest Celebration”.
