I think the digital mangrove planting concept is very interestingPontianak, West Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno will promote the digital mangrove planting program at Telok Bediri Mangrove Tourism area, Sungai Kupah, Kubu Raya, West Kalimantan, as a tourism destination and environmental conservation region.
"I think the digital mangrove planting concept is very interesting, as it combines the concepts of environmental conservation, tourism, and digitalization being applied by the youth in Kubu Raya," Uno, concurrently the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency head, remarked here on Thursday.
"This will certainly be supported and promoted, as the world is currently paying attention to the planting of mangroves, and Kubu Raya can be a barometer," he affirmed.
At the mangrove tourism project, the public can participate in planting mangroves by buying mangrove seeds, and the project's manager will then plant and report it via the application, so that the planter or buyer of the seeds can monitor the mangrove growth via the app.
"This is what makes me very interested, as the idea is very interesting, and we will support it," he remarked.
According to Uno, climate change is threatening the world today, forcing the leaders of countries in the world to focus on holding back the pace of climate change.
The mangrove area in West Kalimantan reaches 177,023,738 hectares, and Kubu Raya has the largest mangrove forest area spanning 129,604,125 hectares. The mangrove forest has a diversity of rare flora and fauna, such as the Mata Buaya mangrove, which is only found in four countries: Singapore, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, and Indonesia.
The Kubu Raya mangrove forest has 33 types of mangroves out of the 40 types of mangroves in Indonesia.
"With good promotion and management, I believe, the world's eyes will be on the Kubu Raya mangrove, and we will encourage outsiders to participate in developing it," the minister affirmed.
