The university has also prepared its lecturers, facilities, and the LMS (learning management system)Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology has commenced recruitment for Pre-Professional Teacher Education (PPG Prajabatan) in a bid to ensure the provision of 40 thousand new teachers in the country.
"This policy is the government's effort to balance the needs of teachers for now and in the future. The number of retired teachers needs to be anticipated by recruiting new teachers," Head of the program at the Indonesian Education University (UPI) Dinn Wahyudi stated here on Wednesday.
Wahyudi, concurrently a member of the Institute of Education and Education Personnel (LPTK), explained that the recruitment is a collaboration between the ministry and LPTK to create a new generation of educators.
"With the collaboration between the ministry and LPTK as well as high public participation, we are optimistic that the target of 40 thousand new teachers would be achieved, so that the quality of national education will continue to improve," he stated.

Wahyudi assessed that the Pre-Professional Teacher Education Program is effective in responding to the availability of educators to replace teachers, who have retired. He said, currently, most teachers at the elementary school level would retire.
Hence, he expressed optimism of no gap existing between the availability and requirements of teachers. According to Wahyudi, if the program is not implemented, it will cause problems, such as the disproportionate number of honorary teachers.

Students of the program that clear the recruitment process will receive a stipend from the government in the form of scholarships to attend lectures until graduation. They are also guaranteed certainty of being recruited as teachers after graduating, Wahyudi revealed.

Wahyudi also expects that with this program, the distribution and availability of teachers would be more equitable across regions.
