This is a good opportunity for MRT collaboration with feeder system along with currently six partners to improve mobility or to help people ride MRT from home directly
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta administration-owned rapid transit operator PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) is working with the private sector to integrate transportation services for the comfort of commuters, the company's operation and maintenance director, Muhammad Effendi, has informed.

The parties that MRT Jakarta is cooperating with include TransJakarta bus, taxi services, and a number of transportation technology companies.

The comfort of commuters cannot be ensured by MRT Jakarta alone, but necessitates cooperation with other partners, including the private sector, he noted here on Thursday.

He assured that the cooperation partners in areas managed by MRT Jakarta will not add to congestion.

"Meanwhile, partners are being provided with info on where they can pick up-deliver passengers. As a result, startups are expected to grow together with MRT and, eventually, revenue will also grow," he said.

He then highlighted the importance of integrating public transportation services with ride-hailing or social ride providers to ensure the comfort of commuters.

"This is a good opportunity for MRT collaboration with feeder system along with currently six partners to improve mobility or to help people ride MRT from home directly," Effendi said.

According to the data provided by the Directorate General of Citizenship and Civil Registration (Dukcapil) of the Home Affairs Ministry, 70 percent of Jakarta’s population belongs to the productive age group.

This has led to higher demand for transportation options during the rush hour, which is the result of high public mobility within the capital and its surrounding regions.

"And according to our survey result, what people desire is comfort," PT MRT Jakarta's (Perseroda's) customer engagement division head, Syofya Ilham Ermayanti, informed.

The question lies in how to have a fleet ready in addition to feeder partners to serve commuters from the time they get out of their homes till the time they arrive at their destinations to secure their comfort, she added.
