We want to show that the attempt to eradicate corruption starts with ourselves, (then) the family.Badung, Bali (ANTARA) - Delegates of the 2nd meeting of the 2022 G20 Anti-Corruption Working Group (ACWG) visited Kutuh Village, an anti-corruption pilot village fostered by the Indonesian Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in Badung District, Bali Province, on Friday.
ACWG is a G20 working group that aims to establish comprehensive recommendations for G20 members to implement concrete actions in eradicating corruption.
The visit was one of the agendas on the last day of the implementation of the 2nd meeting of the 2022 G20 ACWG, which was held in Badung District on July 5-8, 2022, with Indonesia, as the chair, and Australia, as the co-chair of the meeting.
Director of Community Participation Development of the KPK Brigadier General Kumbul Kuswidjanto Sudjadi stated that the visit aimed to showcase the local wisdom of Kutuh Village's people, who apply anti-corruption values in their daily lives.
At the village, the delegates witnessed the activity to disseminate information on building families with integrity, for which the material was provided by the KPK.
The director stated that establishing families with integrity was one of the commission’s strategies to prevent corruption since in several cases, corruption was also caused by inharmonious family relations, with no concern for the issue.
"We want to show that the attempt to eradicate corruption starts with ourselves (and then) the family," he stated.
He expects that the visit to the anti-corruption pilot village would inspire the G20 delegates to implement a similar program in their respective countries.
Meanwhile, Co-Chair of the 2022 G20 ACWG from Australia Lavinia Gracik-Anczewska admitted to being charmed by the culture and friendly nature of people of the village.
“Kutuh Village is a beautiful village, and the people are friendly. I have just reviewed a dissemination activity on ethical (anti-corruption) values that is attended by the villagers. Values are something basic. (Thus, it is a) great activity. I am very impressed,” she stated.
In addition to witnessing the anti-corruption dissemination activity, the delegates watched the Kecak and Rejang dance performances.
Furthermore, the delegates visited Dalem Temple in Kutuh Village and were offered a detailed explanation on the Balinese philosophy of life, Tri Hita Karana.
They were also invited to arrange offerings for traditional prayer rituals, called canang, which contained several flowers, such as marigold (Tagetes erecta), bougainvillea (Bougainvillea glabra), and champak (Magnolia champaca).
After visiting the village, the delegates will head to the Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) Cultural Park, which is one of the prominent tourism attractions in Bali Province and displays a 121-meter-high statue portraying Lord Vishnu riding a Garuda.
