There is one in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) province, which weighs 1.4 tonsJakarta (ANTARA) - Eid al-Adha is expected to serve as a momentum to encourage the economy of local cattle farmers, deputy for administration and management of the Presidential Palace at the Presidential Secretariat, Rika Kiswardani, has said.
In addition to religious purposes, the disbursement of Qurbani (sacrificial) cows by President Joko Widodo to mosques in 34 provinces across Indonesia is also aimed at providing meat assistance for the community, she informed here on Friday.
All of the Qurbani animals have been purchased from local breeders, she said.
The Presidential Secretariat has asked each governor to determine the mosque that would receive the Qurbani animal assistance.

Every year, different mosques are selected to receive Qurbani cows to ensure the assistance is distributed evenly.
In 2022, there have been a number of challenges to disbursing Qurbani animals since some of the mosques are located quite far from provincial capitals and can only be reached by sea, Kiswardani noted.
For instance, the Qurbani cow for North Sulawesi province will be sent to Tidore Island, South Sulawesi province to Selayar Island, Southeast Sulawesi province to Buton Island, North Maluku province to Bacan Island, and Maluku province to Seram Island, she informed.
Nevertheless, the Presidential Secretariat, along with the Agriculture Ministry, Religious Affairs Ministry, and local governments, will keep striving to realize the distribution of the Qurbani animals to the respective mosques.
Meanwhile, head of the Presidential Secretariat, Heru Budi Hartono, informed that the sacrificial cows would be distributed on Saturday (July 9, 2022) to the governors and deputy governors of 34 provinces.

He also informed that the President has not decided where he will conduct the Eid al-Adha prayer.
Earlier, the government had set Sunday (July 10) as the day for the 2022 Eid al-Adha celebrations.
