In addition to tourism, the mobility of international skilled workers will greatly be benefited by the (implementation of the) same (digital infrastructure) platform.Labuan Bajo, NTT (ANTARA) - Mutual recognition of vaccination certificates and health protocols to facilitate people’s mobility across countries, especially to realize seamless travel for tourism activities, became one of the topics of discussions at the 2nd G20 Sherpa Meeting.
This was conveyed by the special staff of Indonesian Health Minister for Governance, Ronaldus Mujur, on the sidelines of the 2nd G20 Sherpa Meeting here on Sunday.
The G20 Sherpa Meeting is a forum attended by G20 member countries to discuss issues related to energy, development, tourism, digital economy, education, labor, agriculture, trade, investment, industry, health, anti-corruption, environment, and climate change.
During the Global Health Architecture session of the meeting on Sunday, the 1st Health Working Group Meeting was held at the end of March 2022 in which all parties agreed that mutual recognition of health protocols and vaccine certification were important to be implemented globally.

The session also discussed the development of digital infrastructure, such as the Indonesian Health Ministry’s application PeduliLindungi, to support international mobility and facilitate travelers by simplifying the document checking process.
"In addition to tourism, the mobility of international skilled workers will greatly be benefited by the (implementation of the) same (digital infrastructure) platform," the special staff stated.
To encourage further discussion on seamless travel, Indonesia has proposed the implementation of the G20 "connect-a-thon," a series of continuous virtual bilateral meetings, on July 20, 2022.
The meeting will involve several information technology teams, including the Indonesian Health Ministry’s team, to encourage the first phase of implementation of the health digital infrastructure.
Mujur noted that currently, several countries were connected through digital infrastructure, so the "connect-a-thon" is expected to expand implementation of the infrastructure.

In addition to the harmonization of global health protocol standards and vaccine certification, his party also spoke about global health system resilience, pandemic preparedness and prevention (PPR), as well as the establishment of the Financial Intermediary Fund (FIF) to help countries in need in case any pandemic occurred in future.
The 2nd G20 Sherpa meeting is held in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province, on July 10-13, 2022.
Representatives from 19 members of G20, six invited countries, and nine international organizations attend the series of the meeting in person.
The series also include a visit to several destinations in Labuan Bajo, such as the Komodo National Park and Padar Island.
Meanwhile, representatives of the United States, which is also a member of G20, partook in the event virtually.
The agenda of the first day of the 2nd G20 Sherpa Meeting included a Global Health Architecture session to listen to reports of the agriculture, tourism and health working groups; discussion sessions; bilateral meeting sessions, as well as Sherpa Talks.
According to the Communication and Informatics Ministry’s website InfoPublik, Sherpa Talks is a unique discussion session, as the delegates will interact with one another on a sofa. At the 2nd G20 Sherpa Meeting, the Sherpa Talks were held on a ship that took the delegates on a tour of the waters of Labuan Bajo.
