MSMEs must be able to adapt to digitization to sell their products. Those who have not entered the online market must start now.Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has asked micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to market their products on online platforms to boost sales.
He made the statement after listening to the stories of several micro-entrepreneurs who succeeded in boosting their business using online applications at an event held to grant business identification numbers (NIB) to individual micro-small enterprises (UMK) at Nanggala Kopassus Building, East Jakarta, on Wednesday.
"MSMEs must be able to adapt to digitization to sell their products. Those who have not entered the online market must start now," he emphasized.
The President also listened to a story from one UMK owner, Wageningtyas, a mother who sells toast in Bandung.
She disclosed that she managed to bump up her revenue to Rp1 million per day by utilizing online applications that helped her business, especially during the pandemic.

She sells her products on several food applications, such as GoFood, GrabFood, Traveloka Eats, Shopee Food, and Asia Food.
"Our revenue has reached Rp1 million per day. Thanks to the online food platforms; they helped us a lot, especially during the pandemic," she said.
Taking note of her story, the head of state urged MSME owners to grab opportunities by promoting their products on various channels.
However, he reminded business owners to increase their production before entering an online marketplace.

"Business owners must increase their production before entering the online market. Do not prepare only 100 products when the order could reach 10 thousand," he reminded.
Like Wageningtyas, a chicken noodle seller from Bojonegoro, Ngadimin, also succeeded in growing his business by utilizing online applications.
Amin, as he is usually called, said that he is earning a revenue of between Rp500 thousand to Rp1 million per day, with 90 percent of the orders coming from an online application.
By connecting with an online food application, Amin said he did not have to rent a kiosk at a strategic location. When he started his business, Amin was selling chicken noodles from a house he rented.
"At first, I did not have to rent a kiosk. Later on, when the demand was good, I was able to rent a small kiosk for my chicken noodle stall," he added.
