"Business incubation in universities is an entry strategy to develop young entrepreneurs that can compete in the global market," the coordinating ministry's Deputy of Digital Economy, Manpower, and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Coordination, Mohammad Rudy Salahuddin, noted, as per a statement received here, Friday.
To promote government programs for young entrepreneurs, the ministry recently organized a national seminar titled "Developing the Entrepreneurship Spirit among Innovative and Competitive University Students" under the Coordinating Ministry of Economic Affairs Goes to Campus event at Udayana University, Bali.
The ministry's official stated that Indonesia should utilize the potential arising from the high interest shown by members of the young generation to become entrepreneurs by collaborating with various stakeholders, including universities.
Young entrepreneurs currently encounter various challenges, such as issues pertaining to product suitability for the targeted market, comprehension of entrepreneurship dynamics, and access to business capital, marketing, and network, he remarked.
To assist young entrepreneurs and address the challenges that they are facing, the government provides various forms of assistance through the provision of Pre-Employment Card facilities, smallholder business credit (KUR), accessible research and certification facilities, and easy permit application, Salahuddin explained.
The government has also provided a super-micro KUR scheme offering business credit of up to Rp10 million (US$670) to university students looking to start a business, he stated.
Meanwhile, the ministry's Communication, Information Services, and Court Bureau Head, Haryo Limanseto, noted that the Coordinating Ministry of Economic Affairs Goes to Campus event is aimed at bolstering the interest of members of the young generation to become new entrepreneurs.
Moreover, Udayana University Rector I Nyoman Gede Antara also commended the ministry's program that can benefit the young generation in future.
"As the rector of Udayana University, I lauded the organisation of this seminar today. I hope the event would be successful and have a positive contribution in future," Antara remarked.
