If the environments are clean, the toilets are clean, the foods are clean, the managers of village-owned enterprises (BUMDes) or tourist villages are clean, I believe they will attract many tourists
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration Abdul Halim Iskandar has said that cleanliness is one of the key conditions for attracting tourists to tourism villages.

"If the environments are clean, the toilets are clean, the foods are clean, the managers of village-owned enterprises (BUMDes) or tourist villages are clean, I believe they will attract many tourists," he remarked at the 2022 Nusantara Tourist Village Promotion Competition launch event on Monday.

According to the minister, if a tourism village is not clean, then tourists will be reluctant to return to it.

Another key condition for attracting tourists is hospitality, he added.

If a village’s residents show sullen faces, tourists would not come back for another visit, he said.

The minister further said that his ministry is holding another tourist village promotion competition to encourage all villages to compete and provide the best promotion for their villages.

According to Iskandar, promotion is also one aspect that can affect the fast or slow development of tourism villages.

The best promotion is to involve all elements of the village community to jointly create creative content related to tourism potential in the surrounding environment, he said.

"Thus, in an effort to help and support the national economic recovery program at the village level through tourist villages, we are holding a Tourist Village Promotion Competition virtually via the Nusantara Tourist Village application," he informed.

He highlighted that the competition can only be participated by BUMDes and collective BUMDes managing tourism villages or those who are collaborating with third parties. The participants will compete for the highest number of likes in the July–December 2022 period.
