"The (number of) regular Hajj pilgrims that have arrived in the country is 11,588 people, and (the number of) special Hajj pilgrims (who have arrived) is 1,759 people," head of the public relations, data, and information bureau at the ministry, Akhmad Fauzin, said at a press conference on Hajj pilgrimage implementation, which was followed online from here Tuesday.
The first phase of pilgrim arrivals will last until July 29, 2022, he informed. On Tuesday, more pilgrims were scheduled to arrive in seven batches at five debarkation points.
They comprised three batches totaling 1,195 pilgrims (Jakarta-Pondok Gede debarkation point), one batch of 409 pilgrims (Jakarta-Bekasi debarkation point), one batch of 360 pilgrims (Solo debarkation point), one batch of 393 pilgrims (Padang debarkation point), and one batch of 448 pilgrims (Surabaya debarkation point).
As many as 113 Hajj pilgrims are currently ailing, Fauzin informed. Of the 113 pilgrims, 87 are being treated at the Indonesian Hajj Health Clinic (KKHI) in Mecca and 26 are being treated at a Saudi Arabian hospital.
So far, 61 pilgrims have died, he added.
Earlier, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) asked Hajj pilgrims who have just returned to Indonesia from Saudi Arabia to get the booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at Hajj dormitories before their families pick them up.
“The President has given directions for all Hajj pilgrims who have returned (to Indonesia) and have not received the booster dose to get the booster dose while waiting at the Hajj dormitories before being picked up by their families," Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin said at the Presidential Office, the Presidential Palace Complex, here on Monday.
Sadikin made the statement after attending a limited meeting on the evaluation of public activity restrictions (PPKM).
