Jakarta (ANTARA) - A member of the House of Representatives urged the Police Force to conduct extensive collaboration, especially with the Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning Ministry, to resolve land mafia issues.

"The Police Force must constantly pursue coordination and communication with the Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning Ministry that has (authority) over that issue. This aims to enable easier access as well as (facilitate) the investigative process for many land issues from various regions," member of third Commission at the House of Representatives, Andi Rio, stated here on Wednesday.

He lauded the Greater Jakarta Police Department for unearthing the modus operandi of land mafia operation that allegedly involved a member of the ministry.

According to Rio, the Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning Ministry is the main actor in land mafia cases, so the Police Force must investigate further to pin down the people in the ministry that conducted the act in a structured manner.

"May the Police Force be constantly able to (pursue and expose the perpetrators) of land mafia cases all across Indonesia. This event must become a gateway for the Police Force to eradicate land mafias in Indonesia, as per President Jokowi's expectations and directives," he remarked.

The House commission member also called on the public to always exercise caution and not fall for promises of irresponsible parties that offered land certificates in an easy, instant way in order to avoid issues in future.

Rio stated that the government had offered digital-based land certification services.

"People better use the official method, so they will not be fooled or have their certificate misused," he emphasized.
