"At an event like this, (I) can get Rp1 million to Rp1.5 million in three days," Syukron Zamil, who has been participating in the South Kalimantan Gernas BBI event since Friday (July 22, 2022) said in Banjarmasin on Saturday.
The Gernas BBI campaign is aimed at promoting local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and their products to enhance economic growth.
Zamil said that his income has increased on account of a flood of orders from visitors.
Typical Dayak Meratus tribe's hoop bracelets are priced between Rp30 thousand and Rp80 thousand, based on the difficulty involved in making them.
Zamil, who offers his craftworks on the street, usually earns Rp1.5 million to Rp2 million in a month.

He said he received orders through social media such as Facebook and Instagram, with customers requesting freshly-crafted hoop bracelets.
Zamil said he only crafts the bracelets directly on the wrists of customers and does not sell finished bracelets. This is to respect and maintain the Dayak customs that have been observed for generations by his predecessors, he explained.
Furthermore, he only goes to Banjarmasin city if there are customers there. Zamil lives in the Loksado sub-district at the foothills of the Meratus Mountains, Hulu Sungai Selatan district, which is a three-hour drive from Banjarmasin.
In addition to making hoop bracelets, Zamil said he weaves hoop decorations on the mandau, a traditional weapon of the Dayak tribe.
The South Kalimantan Gernas BBI, themed “Explore South Kalimantan Colours,” was launched by Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, on Friday.
