The support and enthusiasm from various parties has made us optimistic that we can realize the 10 million trees planting target by the end of 2022.Makassar, South Sulawesi (ANTARA) - A total of two million trees have been planted so far under the Mental Revolution National Movement (GNRM), Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Muhadjir Effendy, has informed.
The government expects to meet the GNRM target of planting 10 million trees by the end of the year, he said during a 10 million trees planting event at Hasanuddin University here on Tuesday.
"The support and enthusiasm from various parties has made us optimistic that we can realize the 10 million trees planting target by the end of 2022," he remarked.
"We thank the South Sulawesi governor and Unhas rector who have taken the initiative to plant trees in Indonesia's eastern territory," he said.
In addition to Unhas, the ministry is also cooperating with three other universities—North Sumatra University, Semarang State University, and Tirtayasa University—for the program.
There is a reason for involving university campuses for making the movement for planting 10 million trees a success, Effendy said.

There are a large number of students at universities, who are expected to have a major impact on making the program a success, he explained.
“A campus has students. We expect that all university students can take part in this program, especially since planting trees is a positive activity for the good of us all,” he said.
Meanwhile, Unhas Rector Jamaluddin informed that he will ask university students, especially freshmen, to support the movement by planting at least one tree.
The university will also coordinate with the campus forum to make the program initiated by the minister a success.
"For this 10 million trees planting movement, we have received a total of 2,500 tree seeds. We will plant these trees at several locations, whether they are in Tamalanrea Campus, Unhas Gowa Campus, to Unhas education forest," he said.
The GNRM program aims to change the mindset and behavior of Indonesians by referring to the values of integrity, mutual assistance, and work ethic based on the Pancasila ideology.
The program is expected to support efforts to make Indonesia a developed, modern, prosperous, and civilized nation.
