Jakarta (ANTARA) - Jakarta recorded most daily confirmed positive COVID-19 cases, amounting to 1,824 as of Sunday, 12.00 pm local time, the COVID-19 Task Force informed.

According to data from the COVID-19 Task Force received here on Sunday, Jakarta's record was followed by West Java with 752 cases, Banten with 640 cases, East Java with 375 cases, and Bali with 161 cases.

With the addition of 4,278 daily cases, the total number of positive cases has risen to 6,244,978 since March 2020.

Jakarta also had most COVID-19 recovery rate, with 3,004 recoveries, followed by West Java with 593 recoveries, Banten with 406 recoveries, and Bali with 138 recoveries. .

Thus there were an addition of 5,016 recoveries , thus bringing the number of patients recovering from the disease to 6,073,738.

Meanwhile, 13 people succumbed to the disease. Jakarta had five deaths, while West Java, Banten, East Java, Bali, South Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, North Sumatera, and South Sulawesi had one each. In total, the number of deaths reached 157,095.

COVID-19 Task Force also recorded that there were 50,145 people undergoing treatment and self-isolation. The number decreased by 750 compared to previous day, August 6.

There were also 4,160 people who were suspected to have COVID-19.

The figure was found after a test was conducted on Sunday to 81,915 specimens from 36,037 people whom was tested in hundreds of laboratoriums across Indonesia.

Daily specimen positivity rate was capped at 11.06 percent and the daily people positivity rate was 11.87 percent.

Epidemiologist from Public Health Faculty at University of Indonesia Tri Yunis Miko Wahyono highlighted the importance of following health protocols for the public while the government was extending the imposition of community activities restriction.

"First is to conduct good surveillance. Second is to (maintain adherence) to health protocols, do not (dismiss) such," Wahyono said.

Wahyono mentioned that should the adherence to health protocols declined, it would compromise the situation and increase the rate of transmission.
