As the most modern mode of transportation that will operate in Indonesia, LRT Jabodebek certainly needs the support of qualified maintenance facilities
Jakarta (ANTARA) - State-owned railway company PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) readied facilities at the LRT Jabodebek depot in Bekasi, West Java, that will be used for storing, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing LRT's facilities and its supporting components.

"As the most modern mode of transportation that will operate in Indonesia, LRT Jabodebek certainly needs the support of qualified maintenance facilities," KAI VP Public Relations Joni Martinus explained here on Wednesday.

The depot of LRT Jabodebek or the Greater Jakarta Light Rail Transit is located in East Bekasi, Bekasi District, West Java, with an area spanning about 100 thousand square meters.

The depot areas that are ready are the Underfloor, Stabling, Automatic Train Wash Plant (ATWP) and the operation control center (OCC) building.

There are 20 lanes in the stabling area to store and protect the LRT Jabodebek facilities or trains from hot weather, rain, and other forms of exposure.

The ATWP system will expedite the process of cleaning trains and has in place a water treatment system to not pollute the environment.

The OCC functions as an administration and main control center. The LRT Jabodebek will then operate based on a schedule uploaded onto the signaling system at the OCC. In addition, a train simulator will be installed in the OCC to test the ability of the train attendant to drive the LRT.

Meanwhile, areas for light and heavy maintenance are still under construction, with the progress having reached 85.11 percent.

Martinus noted that currently, the overall progress in the construction of LRT Jabodebek has reached 84.22 percent.

Furthermore, he said various stages of testing were readied to ensure operational reliability and customer safety in future.

"KAI prepares the LRT Jabodebek as well as possible, with a variety of modern and quality equipment, so that in the long term, LRT Jabodebek will remain reliable," Martinus concluded.
