The Presidential Staff Office paid utmost attention to the development of Polimarin's new campus on a more spacious ground, so that the capacity of new students enrolled can be increased
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Presidential Staff Office (KSP) has assisted in the development of the State Maritime Polytechnic (Polimarin) in Bergas, Semarang, Central Java, for which progress was hindered in 2016.

In the past five months, they addressed issues surrounding impeded progress by conducting several meetings with various stakeholders, such as the Central Java Court, Finance Ministry, State-Owned Enterprises Ministry, PTPN 1X, and PTPN Holding.

"The Presidential Staff Office paid utmost attention to the development of Polimarin's new campus on a more spacious ground, so that the capacity of new students enrolled can be increased. This is a form of the government's support to improve the capability of human resources in terms of maritime affairs, which did not receive much attention all along," Main Expert at the KSP Agung Hardjono stated in a statement on Friday.

The KSP also observed the handing of land certificates from the Semarang office of the National Land Agency to Polimarin on Friday.

Polimarin's old campus, located in Semarang City on an area of 1.5 hectares, was deemed inadequate to accommodate the students.

During the relocation of Polimarin campus to a 30-hectare plot of land in Waringin Putih Village, Bergas Sub-District, Semarang District, budgetary constraints and issues were faced regarding the land asset from PTPN IX, for which the KSP had extended assistance in resolving the problem.

"By ensuring the availability of more spacious land for educational institutions, it means that the government guarantees extensive access to education for the community," Hardjono stated.

Polimarin had expanded its reach to an international scope by hosting joint degree collaboration with the Hochshule Wismar campus, part of the University of Applied Sciences, Germany.

President Joko Widodo has also paid significant attention to Polimarin as an educational institution that would support in realizing Indonesia's maritime axis vision.

"The (employment) rate of Polymarin graduates is always 100 percent, and Indonesia has a need for superior human resources in the maritime sector. It is expected that in future, Polimarin can become a world-class university that has a network of cooperation with various educational institutions and the (business sector), both domestically and internationally," Hardjono concluded.
