"Currently, we are promoting and encouraging the mitigation of inequality in global economic recovery through the Indonesian G20 presidency this year, with the theme 'Recover Together, Recover Stronger,'" Minister Hartarto noted in an official statement here on Saturday.
Indonesia assuming the G20 Presidency in 2022 was one of the government's approaches in pursuing sustainable economic recovery during the post-pandemic period, he highlighted.
During its presidency, Indonesia proposed efforts to improve the global economy through equitable distribution of vaccinations and global health infrastructure among developed, developing, and underdeveloped countries, the minister affirmed.

Indonesia's other contributions in overcoming global problems encompassed resolving the food and energy crisis plaguing various parts of the world through transition to affordable and environmentally friendly energy by initiating technology and knowledge transfer between developed and developing countries, he elaborated.
The government has also been striving to address the imbalance in food distribution through multilateral and bilateral diplomacy to address issues in the food supply chain.
The government has also formulated and implemented various domestic policies to mitigate post-pandemic national economic inequality through balancing policies related to health and socio-economics, with orientation towards health management, social protection, and economic recovery programs.
Minister Hartarto listed efforts made by government, such as providing social assistance for low-income communities, allowing access to financing for MSMEs and farmers through the People's Business Credit, capacity building and social protection for workers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic through Pre-Employment Cards, and facilitating business through the implementation of the Omnibus Law on Job Creation.

They also sought to improve the national economy by encouraging the use of evolving digital technology to support the development of MSMEs and improve the lives of low-income households.
The minister said that through the application of these policies, backed by collaboration of several parties, the government managed to control the impact of the pandemic to a significant extent, so that in future, it is expected to create national economic stability and play a role in solving other global problems.
"We have succeeded in controlling the health, social, and economic impacts of the global pandemic. Thus, Indonesia was chosen by the United Nations as one of the five countries that succeeded in mitigating the (impact of the) pandemic and was tasked with formulating global policies to address the food, energy, and financial crises under the Global Crisis Response Group," he concluded.
