Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Communication and Informatics, along with the Siberkreasi National Digital Literacy Movement (GNLD) and its network partners, launched 58 collaborative books related to digital literacy.

"The community can use books on digital literacy massively for education. The digital literacy books that have been launched can be downloaded for free through the literasidigital.id site," member of the Siberkreasi GNLD Steering Committee Donny Budi Utoyo noted in a written statement here on Monday.

Based on the Indonesian National Digital Literacy Index Survey conducted by the Ministry of Communication and Informatics and the Katadata Insight Center in 2021, Indonesia is currently placed in the "medium" digital literacy category, with a value of 3.49 in the index range from one to five.

Hence, the ministry has collaborated with Siberkreasi and partners to launch 58 books on digital literacy.

Utoyo noted that the current level of tolerance among people is the result of a high level of literacy and freedom of expression.

"Freedom of expression cannot be separated from ethics and tolerance. They must be one. Otherwise, it can cause problems and even lead to legal issues," he affirmed.

Representative from the Center for Digital Society (CfDS) of Gadjah Mada University, Amelinda Kusumaningtyas, said the launched books were a form of research on social changes caused by digital transformation.

"The book we have written is about the digital economy that explains its utilization, the implications for women's empowerment and what digital innovations are formed when COVID-19 (pandemic) occurs," she elaborated.
