"We (the Presidential Staff Office) have been working 'bloodily' (rigorously) to acquire this land. The president will inaugurate this at the end of 2024. No matter what, do not postpone (the inauguration date)," Moeldoko noted here on Friday.
On Thursday, August 18, Moeldoko chaired the coordination meeting on the acceleration of construction of the new Polimarin campus in Semarang, Central Java.
Earlier, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) had spotlighted the role of Polimarin as an educational institution that helps to realize the vision of Indonesia as the world's maritime axis.
Moreover, the absorption rate of Polimarin graduates is always 100 percent, while Indonesia needs quality human resources in the maritime sector.
However, the condition of Polimarin's old campus area, spanning 1.5 hectares, was considered inadequate to accept more cadets. The campus also needs a training place for students.
Hence, in 2016, Jokowi instructed to construct a new campus. However, due to problems, such as budgetary constraints and land acquisition, disputes arose in the release of land that was an asset of state-run agricultural company PTPN IX.
This issue stalled construction of the new campus located in Bergas, Semarang District.
In tackling the issue, the KSP team conducted "debottlenecking," or facilitating the stalled project, and coordinated with the Finance Ministry, State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Ministry, the Central Java Higher Prosecutor's Office, PTPN IX, and Holding PTPN.
As a result, land acquisition for the new campus, covering an area of 30 hectares, can be realized.
With the new campus, Moeldoko expressed hope that Poliramin would be able to produce strong maritime human resources, so that it can become a benchmark in ASEAN and the world.
