We have just completed the 3rd HWG with several important points related to the expansion of manufacturing, therapeutic and diagnostic centers, as well as global research networksNusa Dua, Bali (ANTARA) - The Third Health Working Group (HWG) meeting has resulted in two agreements on strengthening regulations to support the development of global manufacturing centers and multi-regional research for dealing with future pandemics.
The meeting was held as part of G20's Sherpa Track in Bali.
"We have just completed the 3rd HWG with several important points related to the expansion of manufacturing, therapeutic and diagnostic centers, as well as global research networks," chair of the 3rd HWG, Rizka Andalusia, said at a press conference here on Tuesday.
The HWG forum is a part of G20's Sherpa Track and is focused on the strengthening of the global health architecture by G20 member countries.
Andalusia, who also serves as director general of pharmacy and medical devices at the Ministry of Health, noted that global research and manufacturing regulations are among the important things needed by all countries for facing future pandemics.
"First, we agreed on the importance of strengthening regulations and harmonization to support research and manufacturing," she said.

The second agreement was on the importance of strengthening multi-regional research, especially clinical trials, and the ability to share knowledge and technology in the pharmaceutical field.
The G20 member countries pushed for the issuance of rules by international organizations to improve research and manufacturing capabilities, she informed.
"These capabilities must be built to have a more connected global platform to ensure the democratization of knowledge," Andalusia explained.
The meeting also discussed several potential G20 collaborations for identifying global biomanufacturing hubs, collaborative research, and public-private partnership sharing mechanisms in the clinical trial ecosystem, among others.

Delegates also discussed the need for a continuous mission in the initial 100 days of relief emergency response.
"The initial 100 days of this emergency response covered the need to avoid duplication of work through effective coordination," Andalusia said.
The entire agreement was carried out by 10 delegates of G20 member countries who joined the meeting at the Hilton Nusa Dua Hotel, Bali, and other delegates who joined the meeting online.
The results of the 3rd HWG Bali discussion, which was held from August 22–23, 2022, will be raised as a follow-up topic at the second meeting of health ministers (2nd Health Ministers’ Meeting/HMM) on October 27–28, Andalusia informed.
