Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Ministry is constructing the Sepaku Ring Road as the main access road to the new Indonesian capital (IKN), Nusantara, in East Kalimantan province.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said that the land mapping for the construction of IKN Nusantara has begun.

"After mapping the land, the government will start the construction of basic infrastructure, such as toll roads and national roads to access the IKN Nusantara," he informed.

Meanwhile, as it will serve as the main access road to the future capital, Sepaku Ring Road’s development has started earlier, and so far, its construction is 77 percent complete.

Head of the East Kalimantan National Road Implementation Center (BBPJN), Junaidi, informed that the total length of the Sepaku Ring Road, which is being developed using the state budget (APBN) in three tranches under a multi-year contract (MYC), will be around 2.91 kilometers (km).

The road comprises three segments spanning 0.75 km, 1.04 km, and 1.12 km in length, he noted.
