Today, we begin (QRIS) full implementation in Thailand. Indonesia's QR and Thai QR systems have been tested (earlier), and today is the full implementationJakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's integrated QR code payment system QRIS (Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard) has been fully functional in Thailand, Bank Indonesia (BI) Governor Perry Warjiyo stated.
"Today, we begin (QRIS) full implementation in Thailand. Indonesia's QR and Thai QR systems have been tested (earlier), and today is the full implementation," Warjiyo noted here, Monday.
The central bank governor said that the QRIS integration with its Thai counterpart would bolster financial transactions between both countries, including in the tourism, trade, and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) sectors.

The integration will also facilitate residents to perform transactions in Thailand, as residents no longer need to exchange their money and could easily scan their QRIS code while purchasing products in Thailand, he noted.
Warjiyo highlighted that the integration efforts are a follow up on President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi's) instruction to connect the national integrated QR code payment system to the global financial ecosystem, which started from the ASEAN level.
Governors of Indonesian, Thai, Malaysian, Singaporean, and Philippines central banks had reiterated their commitment to integrating the national QR code payment and fast payment systems at a meeting on May 2022, he pointed out.
Efforts to integrate cross-border, QR code payment, and fast payment systems in the five countries will be bolstered, he affirmed while adding that the integration will allow residents of the five countries to use their local currency while paying for their transactions abroad.

"This will also support tourism, MSMEs, and the national digital financial and economic sectors," Warjiyo remarked.
Meanwhile, BI also launched the Domestic Government Credit Card (KKP Domestik) that will initially be carried out through the interconnection of the QRIS payment system.
The new system is to follow up on Presidential Instruction No. 2 of 2022 that stipulates the acceleration of the use of domestic products and products of micro and small businesses and cooperatives to ensure the success of the Proud of Indonesian Products National Movement (GERNAS) in the government's procurement of goods and services, he noted.
