...thus we can all contribute to the attempts to solve problems in the current global situation, which is truly challenging
Badung, Bali (ANTARA) - The Supreme Audit Institutions G20 (SAI20) and G20 countries will collaborate to implement the sustainable development goals (SDGs) and encourage post-COVID-19 economic recovery, Head of the Indonesian State Audit Board (BPK) Isma Yatun has said.

“As the world strives to recover from the pandemic, all of us face various challenges, including in economic, social, and environmental aspects," she noted here on Monday.

The establishment of SAI20 was initiated by the BPK during Indonesia's 2022 G20 Presidency to contribute, among other things, to the transparency and accountability of good governance.

Since the beginning of the G20 leadership transition process in 2021, a series of meetings have been held to prepare for the establishment of SAI20 as an engagement group at the G20.

The meetings have discussed two main outputs of SAI20, including the rules of procedures as well as the SAI20 communique regarding the acceleration of economic recovery and support for the achievement of the SDGs.

The BPK head said that the rules of procedures will enable and support the internal processes and decision-making of SAI20 as well as direct its operational arrangement.

Meanwhile, the SAI20 communique contains a plan to bring together all stakeholders to collaborate with the Supreme Audit Institutions of the G20 countries.

"The communique can be realized by implementing concrete actions through dialogue and intensive cooperation between SAI and the government as well as stakeholders, thus we can all contribute to the attempts to solve problems in the current global situation, which is truly challenging," Yatun remarked.

In addition, she said that the joint communique can become an independent and objective reference for G20 leaders to ensure and improve the implementation of the principles of good governance in the public sector as well as the effectiveness of their programs and policies.

"Later, I believe that the establishment of SAI20 will encourage innovations to further strengthen the role of SAI," the BPK head added.
