"Government institutions joining MPPs are expected to help regional authorities in providing quality services to residents," the ministry's Deputy for Public Services, Diah Natalisa, said after inaugurating an MPP in Pariaman, West Sumatra, on Wednesday.
With the presence of various government agencies and banking institutions at the MPPs, acts involving brokering and gratification—which harm the system and potentially violate the law—can be checked, she added.
She urged regional authorities to ensure that comfortable facilities, friendly and upright officers, and information technology-based public services are all available at public service malls.
"Registration through electronic means can be conducted from home, (and then residents can) wait in a comfortable space, and if they do not understand (a particular service) they can promptly ask officers. These factors can surely diminish the presence (of brokering)," Natalisa said.
MPPs have been developed to integrate public services provided by the government, banks, state and regional-owned companies, and the private sector at one location, she added.
"We hope MPPs would enhance public services and ease of business to bolster residents' welfare," the deputy remarked.
Meanwhile, Head of the West Sumatra Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Office Adib Alfikri said that with the opening of the newest MPP in Pariaman, the province now has four MPPs.
"The first (MPP) is in Padang, then Payakumbuh -- (named) one of the best MPPs in 2021 -- and Pariaman and Bukittinggi," he noted.
Moreover, Pariaman Mayor Genius Umar said that the city's MPP was initially developed with minimum facilities, and the regional authority later appealed to the ministry to formulate a service standard and guide the region to realize quality public services.
