Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Museum and the Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Ministry's Culture Directorate General have organized the 2022 Museum Quiz Competition (LCCM) to improve the knowledge of the nation’s history among teenagers, as the future generation.

"Through LCCM, we expect that students can improve their insights on culture, history, and other knowledge," Acting Head of the National Museum Sri Hartini noted during the opening of the LCCM here on Monday.

The competition is being held for middle school students nationwide. The goal is to spread information related to culture and improve people’s appreciation of Indonesian culture.

The 2022 LCCM will be held from September 5 to 10, 2022. Of the 34 invited provinces, 32 provinces have so far confirmed their participation in the three selection stages, which comprise qualification, semifinal, and final.

The provinces include Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, Bangka Belitung Islands, Lampung, Banten, Jakarta, West Java, Yogyakarta, East Java, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, and East Nusa Tenggara.

They also comprise North Kalimantan, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, South Sulawesi, North Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua.

Meanwhile, two provinces have not evinced interest in participating in the national competition yet—Riau Islands and West Sulawesi.

The materials for the competition, which has been held routinely since 2015, will cover culture, the history of the nation's struggle, and museum-related knowledge prepared by the Indonesian History Study Program Association (P3I), Hartini informed.

"The materials are comprehensive, but history and cultural inheritance have larger percentage," she said.

In addition to trophies and certificates, winners will get a cash prize totaling Rp135 million.

The first place winner will get a trophy, certificate, and Rp35 million, the second place winner will receive a trophy, certificate, and Rp30 million, while the third place winner will be awarded a trophy, certificate, and Rp25 million.

Meanwhile, the fourth place winner will get a trophy, certificate, and Rp17.5 million, the fifth place winner will take away a trophy, certificate, and Rp15 million, and the sixth place winner will get a trophy, certificate, and Rp12.5 million.

"In addition, the committee will also choose favorite cheer and favorite champion for those who cannot enter the first, second, and third place," she informed.

Ade Kusdinar, one of the juries, said he expects the 2022 LCCM to be an effort by the government to spread knowledge of history among youngsters as the nation's successors.

"The 2022 LCCM has been created so that children would want to love Indonesian culture, nation, and country so that we can plant nationalism and patriotism," he remarked.
