We expect that the display of the N-219 (plane) at the G20 event will encourage many key people to review the aircraft directly.
Belitung, Bangka Belitung (ANTARA) - State-run aircraft manufacturer PT Dirgantara Indonesia (DI) is planning to display its Nurtanio 219 (N-219) aircraft during the implementation of the ministerial level meeting of the 2022 G20 Development Working Group (DWG).

DWG is one of the working groups of the Indonesian G20 Presidency that aims to discuss developmental issues in the least developed countries, developing countries, and small developing island countries. The meeting will take place in Belitung District, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, from September 7 to 9, 2022.

"During the implementation of the G20 Presidency event in Belitung, the Nurtanio 219 aircraft, as the creation of the nation's children, will be exhibited before ministerial representatives and invited guests as a national icon product," PT DI's Director for Production Affairs Batara Silaban said here on Monday.

He made the statement at a ceremony welcoming the arrival of the N-219 aircraft at H.A.S. Hanandjoeddin Airport, Belitung District.

The plane left Husein Sastranegara International Airport, Bandung City, West Java Province, at 8:15 a.m. Western Indonesian Standard Time (WIB) and arrived at H.AS Hanandjoeddin International Airport at 10 a.m. WIB.

The arrival of the aircraft was welcomed by the Governor of Bangka Belitung Islands, Ridwan Djamaluddin, and his ranks.

According to Silaban, the ministerial level meeting of the G20 DWG can serve as a momentum to promote and introduce the N-219 aircraft to the international community.

"We expect that the display of the N-219 (plane) at the G20 event will encourage many key people to review the aircraft directly," he remarked.

The director said he also hoped that the showcase will drum up more orders for the aircraft.

The N-219 aircraft was developed specifically to operate in mountainous areas with the ability to perform short take-offs and landings on unpaved runways measuring less than 800 meters in length, he informed.

Furthermore, the aircraft can be adjusted according to users’ needs, including for passenger and logistics transport as well as medical evacuation and air medical services.

"The plane is capable of flying for two hours and can carry as many as 19 passengers or 7 tons of cargo, thus this aircraft is multipurpose," Silaban said.
