This G20 will become historic, wherein in addition to Indonesia leading the G20, we also have programs that truly can become a direction in climate change
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Many G20 countries lauded and supported Indonesia's climate policy, such as the FoLU Net Sink 2030, with the G20 Presidency solidifying the country's role in handling climate change, Environment and Forestry Minister Siti Nurbaya stated.

G20 is an international forum comprising 19 countries and the European Union that work together to handle major issues. Indonesia is holding the presidency of the grouping this year.

"Betina Hoffman from Germany mentioned support and cooperation related to protection of biodiversity and climate, peat, and plastic pollution in the ocean," she said in a written statement on Monday.

The United States' Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Michael S. Regan stated that Indonesia and the US have a long-standing history related to the environment.

The US noted that the FoLU Net Sink, designed by Indonesia, is an important note for climate change.

Meanwhile, several G20 countries lauded the effort in achieving clean emission absorption in the forestry and land use sector, or FoLU Net Sink 2030, as one of the priority environment programs in Indonesia, Nurbaya stated.

Indonesia has also been consistent when it comes to reducing deforestation, she highlighted.

Under President Joko Widodo's leadership, Indonesia managed to reduce deforestation simultaneously that is a form of commitment in realizing the FoLU Net Sink by 2030, she remarked.
