"The MRT development is not a one or two-year journey, not (only involves) one or two governors, but its a decade-long (project). So, this is a responsibility that has been carried out by the formers governors and then we continue it," Baswedan said at Plaza BEOS in the Kota Tua (Old Town) area, here on Saturday evening.
According to him, MRT is a strategic project that takes a long time, starting from the process of preparing ideas, fund raising and arranging project cooperation.
Baswedan believes that his successor will continue the MRT development project.
"This is not a one-or two-governor program, but it is a national program, a program of the Jakarta Provincial Government, carried out together across time. All of this has been ingrained in the cooperation contracts and arrangements between the provincial government and the central government through the establishment of PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda)," he explained.
On this occasion, the government laid the groundbreaking of CP (Contract Package) 202 of Jakarta MRT in Kota Tua, West Jakarta.
The CP 202, signed on July 18, 2022, will connect the 1.8-kilometer (km) Harmoni-Sawah Besar with three stations underground.
CP 202 is part of MRT Phase 2 construction that connects the HI Roundabout (Bundaran HI) to the Kota area. Earlier, work on the CP 201 package that connects Thamrin-Monas, stretching 2.26 km, with two stations underground, has been carried out with 42.7-percent completion.
In addition, the CP 203 package that connects Glodok-Kota along 1.3 km with two underground stations, has 15 percent been completed.
Jakarta MRT Phase 2, which consists of three packages, CP 201, CP 202, and CP 203, is projected to be finished in 2028.
