Through the meeting, which will be held over the next two days, we hope to achieve the goal of promoting the real role of culture in responding to the world challengesJakarta (ANTARA) - Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) Ministry invites G20 delegates to join a meeting with participants of Consolidation Week for Cultural Workers (PeKaT) and Regional Cultural Week (PKD) and community in Borobudur, Magelang, Central Java.
"Through the meeting, which will be held over the next two days, we hope to achieve the goal of promoting the real role of culture in responding to the world challenges," Director General of the ministry, Hilmar Farid, noted in a written statement here on Monday.
The activity also featured art performances, traditional games, and exhibitions of cultural objects as part of a series of activities at the G20 Culture Ministers' Meeting (CMM).
In that activity, the G20 delegates also held discussions with PeKaT and PKD participants as well as the community around the Borobudur Area as an introduction to the Giant Meeting on Monday, September 12, 2022.
The participants discussed the results of collaborative work between interdisciplinary practitioners, including discussing the findings of the Indonesian International Conference (KIKI) academics, works of participants of the Youth Cultural Camp (KBKM), the Village Cultural Guide, and the G20 Cultural Residency, as well as the contributions of indigenous people.

This activity also provided an opportunity for delegates to get to know more about the cultural values of Borobudur Temple and the surrounding villages through exhibitions of Borobudur cultural artifacts, culinary arts, and works of art, as well as video showcasing the results of the Village Cultural Advancement Program in a workshop.
PeKaT participant Septi Fridayani said that with the diversity of ideas by KBKM participants, the workshop was an opportunity for young people to express their creativity.
"Through this workshop, we hope that the role of youth would be further highlighted, so that sustainability can be realized continuously," according to Fridayani.
Assistant Director General for Culture UNESCO, Ernesto Ottone Ramirez, lauded Indonesia for making the most of the momentum of the G20 presidency.
"I thank Indonesia for the efforts that have been made to take advantage of this momentum, so that it becomes meaningful for international organizations,” Ernesto remarked.

The activity was closed with the delegates invited to participate in the traditional game of gangsing and the creation of art works together, the results of which will be displayed at the closing of the G20 Summit in Bali.
The five priorities discussed at the meeting included culture as a driver and enabler of sustainable living; the economic, environmental, and social impacts of culture-based policies; co-management of cultural resources to promote sustainable lifestyles; equitable access to culture and economic benefits; as well as mobilization of international resources to promote sustainable recovery.
In the meantime, the G20 is an international forum comprising 19 countries and the European Union that work together to handle major issues. Indonesia is holding the G20 Presidency this year.
