Bali Police Chief Inspector General Putu Jayaan Danu Putra stated that the personnel were members of the Bali Police and Under Operations Control (BKO) from the Jakarta Police Headquarters as well as related security institutions.
"In order to secure the implementation of the EWG and LEMM series, the Bali Police held a police operation with the codename Operation Gapura Agung X 2022. This security operation will last for four days, from September 12 to September 15, 2022," Putra noted in Bali on Monday.
The 6th G20 Employment Working Group (EWG) meeting took place from Monday to Tuesday to be then followed by the G2-Labor and Employment Ministers Meeting (LEMM) on Tuesday to Wednesday. The two meetings of the G20 Summit series took place at the Ayana Resort Bali, Jimbaran, Badung, Bali, he remarked.
The EWG meeting was attended by 20 senior officials from G20 member countries, four senior officials from four G20 permanent observer countries, and two senior officials from two international organizations.
Meanwhile, the LEMM meeting will be attended by 20 labor ministers from 20 G20 members, four labor ministers from four G20 permanent observer countries, five labor ministers from five regional forum chairmen, seven leaders of international organizations, and five heads of the G20 engagement group, Putra remarked.
In order to ensure security readiness for the G20 EWG and LEMM activities, Putra directly checked the personnel on duty and security support equipment. He also gave special instructions to the personnel in charge of escorting the delegates.
"The checking is a managerial process conducted as a final check on the readiness of personnel and infrastructure to be deployed to the field," he remarked.
Putra also reminded his ranks regarding the standard operating procedures (SOP) of the police, procedures for acting according to the operational plan, and to not underestimate potential threats.
"Never underestimate the development of the existing situation," he added.
He called on the intelligence task force to strengthen the detection of potential threats that might occur, such as terrorism. He also appealed to his staff to make the most of the information technology available at the ITDC Nusa Dua 91 Command Center and the Bali Police Command Center while securing a series of G20 activities.
