Through comprehensive and universal population information, Regsosek will be able to show the condition of the population's welfare.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - National Planning and Development Minister Suharso Monoarfa expects that the 2022 Socio-Economic Registration (Regsosek) can help integrate the central government’s programs conducted by various ministries and institutions as well as local governments’ programs.

Monoarfa made the statement at a webinar titled "Encouraging Reform of Social Protection System" monitored here on Wednesday.

The Socio-Economic Registration is a collection of data of people across Indonesia, including the president and government officials, covering diverse profiles and socio-economic conditions.

The diverse information included in the data collection ranged from demographics, housing, and disability conditions to asset ownership as well as geo-spatial information.

Statistic Indonesia (BPS) was the institution designated by the government to conduct the initial data collection for the Regsosek program that aimed to improve the recipient database of various social protection (Perlinsos) programs.

Up-to-date and accurate population data is expected to be obtained through the data collection program that can be used to optimize the impact of the Perlinsos programs.

"Through comprehensive and universal population information, Regsosek will be able to show the condition of the population's welfare,” the minister remarked.

He noted that data collection can also improve the accuracy of Perlinsos programs, such as the disbursement of social assistance for disadvantaged people and implementation of the competitiveness improvement program for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) owned by the lower middle-class people.

Data from Regsosek will be used together across ministries and agencies through a sharing scheme.

Monoarfa stated that the implementation of data registration was driven by the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, as the government had to adapt in the midst of an unexpected situation to distribute aid quickly, easily, and on target.

"We hope that the interventions that are conducted (by the government) can link up all stakeholders in achieving the determined goals and targets with a high level of accuracy," he added.
