Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Social and Economic Registration (Regsosek) Program can help make the management of state finances more efficient, according to organization, bureaucracy, and information technology expert staff at the Finance Ministry, Sudarto.

"With accurate data, we can reduce overlapping activities," he pointed out during the "Assisting in Social Protection System Reformation" webinar on Wednesday.

"We can accurately choose which programs can be synergized so that the state budget's value for money can improve," he added.

With the availability of data from the Regsosek Program, ministries and institutions will not need to develop their own systems, gather their own data, and allocate their own budgets, he informed.

They will be able to share data easily with other ministries and institutions so that the government's programs can be made more efficient, he explained.

If ministries and institutions develop their own system, it would be expensive. Developing a single system based on a similar database is sufficient, he remarked.

The data that will be integrated through Regsosek will make programs from the ministry more accurate, especially programs for helping informal sector workers whose data has not been previously recorded, Sudarto opined.

"With Regsosek, formal and informal data will be recorded. Thus, we will know who has to pay taxes and who has to be given tax incentives," he noted.

In addition to financial managers at the state level, financial managers at the level of regions may also find Regsosek data useful.

Earlier, National Development Planning Minister and National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) head Suharso Monoarfa had said that early data collection for the Regsosek Program will be conducted from October till November this year.

The Regsosek Program is an activity undertaken by BPS to collect data on all Indonesians, covering diverse social and economic conditions and profiles.

This includes demographic, housing, disabilities, asset ownership, and geospatial information.
