Jakarta (ANTARA) - Head of the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) Danang Parikesit highlighted that one of the unique features of the Cibitung-Cilincing Toll Road was the rest area developed to serve as a transit hub.

"One of the unique aspects about the Cibitung-Cilincing Toll Road is the existence of a transit hub, which is a modification of the development of a rest area for logistics," Parikesit stated at the gate of the Gabus Toll Road, Bekasi, West Java, on Tuesday.

This is in line with the function of the Cibitung-Cilincing Toll Road, which is part of the Jakarta Outer Ring Road (JORR) 2, as a link to the industrial area between the west and east sides of Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek).

Parikesit said that the Cibitung-Cilincing Toll Road was important in the entire JORR 2 owing to the existence of the transit hub.

"This rest area will (occupy) an area of 40 hectares. We hope this area would become a consolidation center for containers that will enter Tanjung Priok and reduce the dwelling time at Tanjung Priok," he remarked.

The Cibitung-Cilincing Toll Road is believed to play an important role in connecting industrial areas located in the western Jabodetabek area with the eastern side known to accommodate nearly 60-70 percent of the industrial areas.

After connectivity between Cibitung and Cilincing is established, the government will connect industrial areas directly with the New Priok Container Terminal.

"This section has a total of 34.8 kilometers. Some 2.65 kilometers have been operated, and now, the president has inaugurated Sections II and III along 24.75 kilometers," he remarked.

The Cibitung-Cilincing Toll Road along with the Serpong-Balaraja Toll Road, which marked the start of JORR 3 on Tuesday, was inaugurated by President Joko Widodo.

The president emphasized that the presence of the Cibitung-Cilincing Toll Road could accelerate the mobility of goods.

"(This is) especially for goods originating from industrial areas in northern Bekasi and also from logistics areas in Karawang, in Bekasi. Goods are delivered to ports in North Jakarta quickly through the Cibitung-Cilincing Toll Road," the president noted.

The Cibitung-Cilincing Toll Road, under construction since 2017, connects the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road in Cibitung with JORR 1 in Cilincing.

As one of the National Strategic Projects to facilitate access from Tanjung Priok Port to industrial areas in eastern Jakarta and vice versa, the 34.7-km Cibitung Cilincing Toll Road comprises four sections: Section 1, Cibitung-Telaga Asih, spanning 3.03 km; Section 2, Telaga Asih-Gabus, measuring 10.1 km; Section 3, Gabus-Tarumajaya, extending 14.35 km; and Section 4, Tarumajaya-Cilincing, spanning 7.66 km.

Section 1 became operational on July 31, 2021. Sections 2 and 3 will be operated soon after this inauguration, while section 4 is targeted to be completed and become operational in December 2022.

The toll road is being constructed by the Toll Road Business Entity (BUJT) PT. Cibitung Tanjung Priok Port Tollways, with a total investment value of around Rp12.91 trillion and construction cost of Rp7.48 trillion.
