Pontianak (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin handed over social assistance under the Family Hope Program (PKH), basic necessities, and direct cash assistance for fuel (BLT BBM) to residents of West Kalimantan on Wednesday.

He also distributed social rehabilitation assistance (Atensi) and compensation from the Workers Social Security Agency (BPJS Ketenagakerjaan).

"For assistance, there is some for the disabled and also BLT BBM; this is part of the government's commitment to providing social protection assistance. The situation and conditions of our community are still many who are poor and even extremely poor," Amin said at the gazebo of West Kalimantan Governor in Pontianak on Wednesday.

According to the Vice President, in view of these economic conditions, the government is providing social assistance to the community.

The government has prepared BLT BBM for 20.65 million beneficiary families (KPM) with a total budget of Rp12.4 trillion. Assistance of Rp150 thousand will be disbursed four times to the KPM.

According to Amin, the commitment to provide assistance will continue to run every year.

"This is a policy given by the government, and the government's commitment will continue to run every year; even this year, the assistance provided to the community is quite large," he noted.

The number of BLT BBM recipients in West Kalimantan was 359,079, who were spread across 14 districts.

In Pontianak city, the number of BLT BBM recipients was 22,203. The realization of BLT BBM distribution in West Kalimantan as of 10:26 p.m. local time on September 20, 2022, reached 80 percent, while nationally, it stood at 87 percent.

The Vice President also delivered regular social assistance from the Ministry of Social Affairs to the poor and vulnerable in West Kalimantan province as part of PKH Phase III for 2022.

The Ministry of Social Affairs also provided other assistance under the Social Rehabilitation Assistance (Atensi) Program for those affected by the increase in fuel prices.

The assistance (Atensi) given by Amin was meant to help people with visual impairments, physical disabilities, people with past history of mental disorders, the elderly, and children orphaned due to COVID-19 to meet the needs for decent living, with the number of recipients reaching 10.
