Foster Fathers will support and accelerate the realization of DRPPA
Pulang Pisau, Kalteng (ANTARA) - Four models of the Women Friendly and Child-Care Village Program (DRPPA) in Central Kalimantan were expected to be emulated by regional heads in other areas, Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Bintang Puspayoga stated.

"DRPPA is a grassroots program that can provide direct benefits for women and children," the minister noted on the sidelines of the stunting-free DRPPA declaration and the commemoration of National Children's Day at Bukit Liti Village, Kahayan Tengah Sub-district, Pulang Pisau District, Central Kalimantan, Thursday.

Puspayoga remarked that the four villages in Central Kalimantan that became the model for DRPPA comprised Bukit Liti in Kahayan Tengah Sub-district, Mekar Jaya in Sabangau Kuala Sub-district, Seragam Jaya in Seranau Sub-district, and Tumbang Bajanei in East Kotawaringin District.

Puspayoga stated that DRPPA is a village, with a gender perspective and priority to children's rights in its development and management. The village also helps to develop and empower rural communities in a planned, comprehensive, and sustainable manner in accordance with Indonesia's development vision.

"We hope that the four DRPPA models would build synergy between the village head and various parties, including leaders, to the business world," she stated.

If the village is able to develop business in the form of mining, plantation, or other sectors, then business actors can become strategic Foster Fathers from the DRPPA village, she added.

"Foster Fathers will support and accelerate the realization of DRPPA," the minister noted.

Meanwhile, Deputy Governor of Central Kalimantan, Edy Pratowo, said the provincial government was committed to improving gender equality in various development fields as well as protecting women's and children's rights.

"This commitment will be realized, one of which is through the Women-Friendly and Child Care Village Program in collaboration with the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection," Pratowo added.
