"We will conduct the operation trial until December 2022, and the target is that by January 2023, we can start operating fully," Jakarta Environment Office Head Asep Kuswanto noted here on Thursday.
Kuswanto explained that the RDF processing site at TPST Bantargebang can produce some 750 tons of RDF in the form of environment-friendly coal that is processed from two thousand tons of waste per day.
The two thousand tons of waste comprised one thousand tons of new waste and one thousand tons of old waste. Meanwhile, RDF can be used as an alternative fuel for cement factories and help to reduce air pollution.
Currently, Kuswanto said, the work to construct RDF facilities was over 70-percent complete and targeted to be completed in October 2022, followed by the inking of a cooperation agreement.
On October 10, 2022, Kuswanto said his side will sign an agreement on RDF product utilization with two cement companies.
He expounded that under the cooperation scheme, the two cement companies will use RDF for 10-15 years. Kuswanto expects the RDF processing site to reduce the amount of waste in the Bantargebang landfill that reached around 50 million cubic meters, with a height of up to 50 meters.
In addition to obtaining green fuel for energy from RDF and compost, new land can be reused due to waste reduction at TPST Bantargebang.
Meanwhile, Jakarta sent 7,800 tons of waste daily to TPST Bantargebang.
