Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Youth and Sports Ministry is striving to popularize the 2022 Student Physical Fitness Gymnastics (SKJ Pelajar) program.

Acting secretary Jonni Mardizal and representatives from several sports organizations, such as the Indonesian Tera Gymnastics Association, the Indonesian Creative Gymnastics Sports Association (IOSKI), and the Indonesian Healthy Heart Foundation (Yayasan Jantung Sehat Indonesia), joined a Student SKJ event in the yard of the ministry's office on Friday.

"We started this joint gymnastics with the SKJ Pelajar so that we can remind the community that this SKJ Pelajar has set an Indonesia World Records Museum (MURI) record on August 27," Mardizal said here on Friday.

Based on data, the total number of SKJ Pelajar participants has reached close to one million this year, with the number of people joining online recorded at 523,690, he informed.

"That was the most participants in a Student SKJ gymnastics (program), and Youth and Sports Minister Zainudin Amali always reminds us all that this gymnastics (should be made) popular in the community," he added.

Mardizal further said that the ministry’s officials perform gymnastics every Friday.

"May we always be healthy, and most importantly, exercise so that we are always fit, healthy, and extraordinary," he remarked.

The Student Physical Fitness Gymnastics was launched at the North Plaza of Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Sports Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on August 27, 2022. The launch was joined online by 34 provinces and 405 districts and cities.

Minister Amali launched the program and received an award from MURI for the most participants in an SKJ Pelajar held in a hybrid setting (online and on-site).

"Not forgetting the birth of SKJ in 1984, the opening music is still the same, (but) it is remastered with contemporary style so that we can follow it, not only students but all of us can," Amali remarked.
