KPK welcomes its new deputy head, Johanis Tanak. His rich experience in the Attorney General's Office will bolster corruption eradication works conducted by KPKJakarta (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is hopeful that the newly appointed KPK deputy head, Johanis Tanak, will boost the agency’s anti-corruption efforts.
Tanak, who was earlier with the Attorney General's Office, was appointed as the KPK deputy head by the House of Representatives (DPR) on Wednesday (September 28, 2022) in place of Lili Pintauli Siregar, who has resigned from the position.
"KPK welcomes its new deputy head, Johanis Tanak. His rich experience in the Attorney General's Office will bolster corruption eradication works conducted by KPK," news department head of the commission, Ali Fikri, stated here on Thursday.

The anti-corruption efforts will not focus only on corruption case handling, and Tanak's perspective and analysis will be valuable in supporting the commission’s decision-making process on corruption prevention and anti-corruption education strategies, he added.
KPK cannot work alone and must collaborate with other stakeholders to implement a simultaneous and integrated anti-corruption strategy to achieve its ultimate goal of reducing corruption in Indonesia, the department head said.
The selection of Tanak as the new KPK deputy head could also bolster synergy between law enforcers, he added.
"KPK has been mandated by law to coordinate and supervise corruption case handling conducted by the Attorney General's Office and the police," Fikri noted.

An Information Technology-based Integrated Criminal Justice System (SPPT-TI) could enhance law enforcement efforts and coordination and ensure transparent case handling as the public can now oversee law enforcement performance through the system, he pointed out.
"We hope the handling of criminal cases can be made more effective and efficient while remaining faithful to legal justice principles," the department head said.
As Tanak's inclusion complements the KPK leadership, the commission can now redirect its focus on consolidating strategies for enhancing corruption eradication efforts in Indonesia, Fikri remarked.
