I believe that FSBJ can be an effective platform in accommodating various artists across generations to meet, collaborate, and learn from each other.
Denpasar, Bali (ANTARA) - Bali Governor Wayan Koster is optimistic that the Bali Jani Arts Festival (FSBJ) IV -- being held on October 9-23, 2022 -- would highlight the importance of preserving water resources and the environment.

"It is in line with the local wisdom inherited from Balinese ancestors called Sad Kerthi (six wisdoms to maintain harmony)," he remarked at the opening of FSBJ IV at the Ardha Candra Open Stage, Bali Provincial Cultural Park, here on Sunday evening.

Koster noted that the FSBJ IV was themed "Jaladhara Sasmita Danu Kerthi," meaning "Water as a Source of Civilization."

Hence, in addition to showcasing various artistic, aesthetic, and entertaining artworks, he expected the festival to convey the environmental conservation message to the public.

"I believe that FSBJ can be an effective platform in accommodating various artists across generations to meet, collaborate, and learn from each other," the governor stated while expressing hope that the Balinese people would also support the event's implementation.

Koster remarked that the festival was also held in accordance with the realization of the Bali Province Development Vision 2018-2023 as well as Bali Regional Regulation Number 4 of 2020 on Development and Advancement of Balinese Cultures.

Head of the Cultural Office of Bali Province I Gede Arya Sugiartha stated that FSBJ provided a wider platform for Balinese artists and writers to explore, experiment, collaborate, and conceptualize new artworks.

The event also aims to bolster the characters of the Balinese people, who are peace-loving and tolerant, as well as uphold the spirit of mutual cooperation, he remarked.

Various activities held during the festival will include several arts competition (pawimba), performance (adilango), exhibition (megarupa), gathering (timbang rasa), workshop (aguron-guron), and parade (utsawa).

Several competitions were held at the national level, including poem recital and essay writing for individuals as well as short film and modern theatre performance for groups.

An awarding ceremony of Bali Jani Nugraha; Tribute to Maestro for Balinese arts and cultural enthusiasts considered to have a huge contribution for the sectors; as well as a book and cartoon fair Beranda Pustaka will also be held.
