Several days ago, we were informed by our Aremania colleagues, and we are investigating it
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Commission for Human Rights (Komnas HAM) is investigating an allegation regarding coverage of treatment costs being discontinued for victims of the tragedy at Kanjuruhan Stadium, Malang, by the provincial government of East Java.

"Several days ago, we were informed by our Aremania colleagues, and we are investigating it," Komnas HAM's member, Mohammad Choirul Anam, noted here on Monday.

If the information is proven to be true, then the action by the East Java provincial government is very unfortunate, he remarked.

Anam noted that several people got injured due to the tragedy. From the onset, various parties have accrued data on the number of people who died, thereby leaving injured victims quite neglected.

This is despite the fact that several people that got injured in the tragedy do not include those not reporting themselves as victims.

After the tragedy, Komnas HAM immediately departed for Malang and coordinated with the victims, including suggesting referral to the Dr. Saiful Anwar Regional General Hospital.

However, with the suspected discontinuation of financing by the East Java provincial government, the hospital's party promptly stopped treating injured victims, who were referred to the hospital.

"If this is true, we ask for a re-evaluation," he remarked.

Anam expects that every victim in the Kanjuruhan tragedy receives treatment for the incident that they experienced.

According to the information received by Komnas HAM, the Malang municipal and district government along with the East Java provincial government are willing to cover all treatment costs for Kanjuruhan tragedy's victims.
