Jakarta (ANTARA) - Ambassador of Indonesia to Namibia Wisnu Edi Pratignyo stated that Indonesia seeks to cooperate with Namibia for the development of livestock
and vocational schools.

Ambassador Pratignyo conveyed the plan for cooperation development at a meeting with Governor of Omaheke, Pijoo Nganate, during the Indonesian Embassy staffs' visit to Gobabis, Namibia, on Thursday , the Embassy of Indonesia in Windhoek said in a statement on Saturday.

The City of Gobabis, or "The Cattle County," is located in the eastern part of Namibia, 212 kilometers away from Windhoek, the capital of Namibia.

The Omaheke region has a population of around 80 thousand residents, out of which 60 percent work as farmers. Their livestock are mainly exported to South Africa.

During the meeting, Ambassador Pratingyo and Governor Nganate exchanged views on some possible fields of cooperation.

Governor Nganate invited Indonesian investors to invest in Omaheke to promote the dairy industry.

"We invited the Indonesian investor to build a collection centre and milk processing facility as well as develop the abattoir in Omaheke," he remarked.

Ambassador Pratingyo explained that the Omaheke regional government could propose for a grant from the Government of Indonesia through the Indonesia Agency for International Development (AID).

"The Government of Indonesia has a grant scheme called the Indonesia Agency for International Development. To obtain the grant, Omaheke should provide a proposal," he noted.

Furthermore, he highlighted possible cooperation in the field of vocational education to increase the quality of human resources in both countries.

"Indonesia offers vocational education at the secondary level or secondary school. Vocational school students will gain specific practical skills to prepare them in entering the labor market as well as creating their own business," Pratingyo stated in his presentation on Indonesia's vocational schools.

To gain a broader understanding of training institutions providing industry-specific and job-related technical skills, Ambassador Pratingyo and Governor Nganate visited Vocational Training Center (VTC) of Omaheke, Community Skills Development Center (COSDEC) of Gobabis, and Omaheke Innovation Village (O-Space).
