It only happens if we appreciate data
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Finance Suahasil Nazara pressed for good data management and utilization, as data is becoming increasingly important for all parties, both for the benefit of organizations as well as the community.

Thus, all parties are expected to not only be able to store data but also to manage data well, so that the data can be utilized.

"The utilization is even up to the formulation of the next policy. We want to develop this culture. We want to encourage this culture," he stated at the 2022 Leader's Talk and Data Culture Awards ceremony that was monitored online on Tuesday.

Nazara expressed firm belief that if good management and utilization of data are not pushed, then all data in the agency, ministry, or organization will only be stored and not offer benefits.

Currently, the government, especially ministries as a whole, are increasingly aware of the importance of the data they have, especially as the COVID-19 pandemic has hit Indonesia in the last two and a half years.

Data that is crucially needed to be utilized well amid the pandemic is that pertaining to health, specifically the distribution of free COVID-19 medicines packages from the Ministry of Health.

The deputy minister noted that several people were satisfied with the government's quick service in providing free medicines with the data that it owned.

"It only happens if we appreciate data," he noted.

To this end, he assessed that the community's satisfaction had become an indication that the government could apply more prudent ways in caring for the community and country.

Nazara called on the government to develop those aspects not only in the health sector but also in the finance, banking, and business sectors where data is becoming increasingly important.
